Finally, spring is upon us and Easter is just two weeks away! It’s time to celebrate the end of a long Canadian winter and welcome the colours and warmth of spring.
This has always been, without a doubt, our favourite time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort, and I feel very fortunate to say that we have a history of having been able to fly Home in April every year or two.
Spring at Walt Disney World typically means the opening of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival when beautiful outdoor topiary and floral displays bring a special magical touch to Epcot, and outdoor kitchens cook up incredible international delights around World Showcase.

As a chef, one of my favourite things to see and admire in the spring is the chocolate Easter eggs on display in many of the Disney resorts. Disney pastry teams work for months on what can only be called nothing less than stunning works of art before sharing their creations with the public.
As the days and weeks of social distancing pass in our home, we can’t help but think about what we’re missing this year with the closure of Walt Disney World Resort. We’re staying positive though – we know the parks and resorts will be there when all of this passes – and we’re keeping the magic alive by reliving our past trips through photos and videos.

Our favourite resort (it’s hard to pick just one) is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: from the elegant Victorian lobby, to the live music, and beautiful grounds, it all feels like “home” the second we step foot on the grounds. Our kids light up and come alive every time.

Sadly, our last trip to Walt Disney World Resort was cancelled due to a family medical emergency, so it’s been a while for us, but we’re all excitedly looking to the future these days. We’ve pulled out old photo albums and have been watching video’s and slide shows, and reliving Disney memories on Facebook as we plan our next trip.

If you’ve seen the chocolate Easter egg displays over the years, you may recognize a few of these past creations. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, I’m happy to share some of our favourites with you.

Enjoy the warmer weather in whatever way you can and keep the magic in your hearts. With a little “faith, trust & pixie dust“, we’ll all be back at Disney soon.
