I’m a slow runner. I’ve never broken records, I’ve never placed first in my age group, and I don’t run marathons, but I’m a runner and I love it. I won’t pretend that, at 51 years of age, my body doesn’t complain – it does – but I keep running. Why? Because running teaches me to put one foot in front of the other and to keep moving forward, and in times like these, I need that reminder. Every. Day.Read More
It’s not an exaggeration to say running has changed my life. It has given me peace, time to think, time to heal, strength, confidence, and it has taught me the pride of chasing a goal and achieving it. The fact that I love running has caught no one off guard more so than myself.Read More
Getting yourself in shape – building strength, endurance and achieving a healthy weight – is hard enough to do once, but I’m about to do it for the second time around. This time, I’m taking you on the journey with me.
That’s right…you’re my accountability partners. I’m using all of you to keep myself accountable and on track, and hey, maybe I’ll motivate you to make a few changes while I’m at it.Read More
“Registration Coming Soon.” It feels like I’ve been reading those words for a very long time.
Clear Your Calendar and Be Race Ready
Well ‘soon’ has finally come, and for me (along with no doubt thousands of others), it’s tomorrow: registration for Disney’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend opens at 10 am ET.
My calendar is clear for the entire morning and I’ve got an alarm set on my phone for an hour before the actual registration time (just in case I should forget).Read More
Do you ever feel like the universe is trying to tell you something? I mean, whack you over the head to get your attention type of tell you something? That’s how I’m beginning to feel when it comes to running. Or more specifically, to runDisney events.
It’s the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World, and we were on the plane…. we were so close… but we had to get off of the plane before it had even pulled away from the gate in Toronto. And cancel our vacation.
If you recall, I had an accident and had to cancel my solo trip to run the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge back in April. Yes, charma reared it’s ugly head again and now I’m out of the Wine & Dine 10k as well.Read More
Two years ago, my hubby surprised me with a trip to Walt Disney World to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.
We’re not there today, but I’m excited and nervous to say we’re just one month away from going ‘home’ and enjoying the Magic Kingdom all decked out for fall once again.Read More

This year marks the 10th anniversary of this event and I am so excited, both as a chef and as a runner, to be there. After an accident and having to cancel my solo trip back in the spring when I was supposed to run the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge, I have regrouped, healed and rescheduled my trip. I’m crazy excited for what will be both my first Wine & Dine runDisney event and my first 10k.CONTINUE READING

One week ago today, I had a nasty accident that left my entire right side badly battered and bruised, and my right wrist broken.
In an instant, all of my Disney dreams went out the window as a surgeon spoke the words I’d already been telling myself but hadn’t been strong enough to speak out loud, “there will be other marathons.”CONTINUE READING
